Home About us
Glenn and Claudia Sinkule
Nicole’s mum and dad. They started this in December 2005, seven weeks after she was killed.
The Nicole Sinkule Foundation is a self supporting non-profit, set up to help in the fight against domestic violence by telling one family’s story honestly.
Glenn and Claudia had moved to Carlsbad from Palm Springs in September 2005, after 23 years, to be closer to their daughters. A month later detectives came to the house to tell them Nicci was dead.
Both of them have since completed the 40 hour domestic violence counselor training run for the California Emergency Management Agency. They are not reading from somebody else’s leaflet. They share Nicole’s life, her death, and the lessons in it, and they are straight about the parts that are hard to hear.
They have never asked anybody for money on this site, and they still do not. What they want is for people to know the signs.
What we are here for
Our purpose, our passion and our plan
Our purpose
To get the word out that domestic violence does not only happen to married people, and that it is not limited by money, race, gender, creed or religion. It is nothing to be ashamed of, and there is help for anyone who wants it.
Our passion
To tell Nicole’s story, and bring the darkness of domestic violence into the light, by teaching from what happened to our own family and from the training we have done since.
Our plan
To help people help themselves, through talking to groups, through events, through answering the people who write to us, and through this website.
Speaking
Having them in the room changes it
Glenn and Claudia speak to groups of any size: schools and colleges, churches and faith groups, community groups, shelters and agencies, media, and small private gatherings.
They cover what domestic violence actually is, the signs to watch for in your own relationship or in someone else’s, and the fact that help exists. Then they tell you about Nicci, and the room goes quiet.
